What the rodent service covers

Interior trapping

Mechanical snap traps placed in the runs rodents actually travel: basements, utility rooms, under and behind appliances, along wall lines. Checked, cleared and reset at every visit.

No rodenticide indoors

We do not place bait inside your home. A poisoned rodent dies in a wall void nobody can reach, and the bait is a risk to pets, children and the raptors hunting your property.

Entry point identification

At every visit we note the gaps we find and physically show you where they are. Garage door corners, utility penetrations, dryer vents, the sill plate gap and crawlspace vents are the usual five.

Quoted separately

Sealing and exclusion work. It is carpentry rather than pest control, and it is the only thing that ends a rodent problem permanently. We point out every gap at no charge whether or not you hire us to close them.

How the plans work.

Two recurring programs, and you can bundle them. We set the right visit frequency for your property when we quote it, based on construction and pest pressure rather than a price sheet.

Most chosen

Prowl Pest Control

Recurring, year-round. Ants, mice and rats, roaches, spiders, stinging insects and the seasonal invaders. Exterior foundation barrier every visit, interior treatment whenever you ask, at no additional charge.

Prowl Mosquito & Tick

Recurring, March through November. Mosquitoes, ticks and fleas treated by yard zone, plus outdoor perimeter pests. Standing water found and reported on every visit.

Best value

Prowl Complete

Both programs performed on the same visit during the outdoor season. One technician, one appointment, one bill, instead of two companies blaming each other for the ants on your patio.

Our technicians, our trucks, your neighborhood.

Not a national franchise dispatching a stranger. The same technician comes back to your property, and you will have their name.

What nobody explains before they install a bait station

The mouse does not die in the box

Anticoagulant bait does not work instantly. The mouse feeds, then carries on for several days before the dose takes effect, and it dies where it feels safest: inside a wall void, above a ceiling tile, under insulation. Now you have a decomposition problem in a cavity nobody can open, and the flies that follow it.

The bait does not only reach mice

A poisoned rodent is slow and easy to catch, which makes it a preferred meal. Red-tailed hawks, screech owls, foxes and neighborhood cats all take rodents, and the dose goes with the meal. If you have owls on your property they are doing free rodent control every night. Bait works against them.

A mouse fits through a gap the width of a pencil

About a quarter of an inch, and the skull is the limiting factor. The most common entry points we find on Long Island homes are the two bottom corners of a garage door, oversized holes where utility lines pass through the wall, a broken dryer vent flap, and the sill plate gap behind the siding.

The part most companies will not say out loud

Trapping alone is a treadmill

Traps remove the rodents that are already inside. They do nothing about the opening those rodents used, and as long as it is open new ones keep replacing the ones we catch. You can pay somebody monthly to empty traps forever without the problem ever ending.

Sealing is the only permanent fix

So at every visit we note the entry points we find and physically show you where they are. Sealing is carpentry rather than pest control, so we quote it separately, and we will point out every gap we find at no charge whether or not you hire us to close them.

Why calls spike in November

Mice are outdoors most of the year and do not need you. What changes in late fall is that temperatures drop and food gets scarce, and a warm structure with crumbs in it becomes worth the trip. A program that shuts down in October leaves you covered for the wrong nine months.

What Long Island customers actually say.

★★★★★

“John came out, found where they were getting in, treated it, and came back to check on it. Problem solved. No BS. Just fixed the issue. Will definitely call again if we need anything.”

Mike S.Patchogue, NY
★★★★★

“Had a bad experience with another local company that was pushy about upselling. Prowl is the opposite. Thomas showed up, did the work, charged a fair price, and left.”

Questions we get before people book.

Do you really not use rodent poison indoors?
Correct, not ever inside a home. Mechanical snap traps placed in the interior runs where rodents travel, checked, cleared and reset at every scheduled visit where we have interior access.
How do I know if it is mice or rats?
Mouse droppings are about the size of a grain of rice and pointed at the ends. Rat evidence is larger and usually includes burrow openings two to four inches across against a foundation, shed or deck, plus greasy rub marks along travel routes.
How fast does trapping work?
You will usually see catches within the first few days. A heavier population takes longer, and rats in particular avoid new objects for several days before they will approach a trap.
Do you seal the holes too?
We find them and show you every one. The sealing work itself is quoted separately because it is carpentry, and it is the only thing that ends a rodent problem permanently.
How much does it cost?
We quote on the phone and you will have a real number before we hang up. Your first treatment is 50% off right now.
