What the stinging insect service covers

Nest removal

Nests removed from accessible exterior surfaces, not just sprayed and left. Removing the structure is what stops them rebuilding in the same spot.

Ground nests and wall voids

Yellow jacket ground nests and colonies inside wall voids or soffits are treated at the gallery, which is a different job from an aerial paper nest and needs different handling.

Return prevention

Eaves, soffits and overhangs treated so paper wasps and bald-faced hornets do not rebuild on the same protected spots next season.

Carpenter bees

Gallery treatment timed to spring emergence, plus treatment of the bare softwood they favor. The half-inch round holes in fascia and deck rails get reused and extended every year if nothing is done.

How the plans work.

Two recurring programs, and you can bundle them. We set the right visit frequency for your property when we quote it, based on construction and pest pressure rather than a price sheet.

Most chosen

Prowl Pest Control

Recurring, year-round. Ants, mice and rats, roaches, spiders, stinging insects and the seasonal invaders. Exterior foundation barrier every visit, interior treatment whenever you ask, at no additional charge.

Prowl Mosquito & Tick

Recurring, March through November. Mosquitoes, ticks and fleas treated by yard zone, plus outdoor perimeter pests. Standing water found and reported on every visit.

Best value

Prowl Complete

Both programs performed on the same visit during the outdoor season. One technician, one appointment, one bill, instead of two companies blaming each other for the ants on your patio.

Our technicians, our trucks, your neighborhood.

Not a national franchise dispatching a stranger. The same technician comes back to your property, and you will have their name.

Why knocking it down yourself goes wrong

Yellow jackets do not sting once and leave

Unlike a honeybee, a yellow jacket has a smooth stinger and can sting repeatedly. A disturbed ground nest can put up dozens of defenders in seconds, and they will chase. Most emergency room visits from stinging insects on Long Island come from someone mowing over a ground nest or spraying a nest from a ladder.

A can of spray from the hardware store often makes it worse

Store-bought aerosols knock down the workers you can see and leave the nest structure and the queen. Survivors scatter, get defensive, and frequently rebuild within a few feet. Removing the nest is what ends it.

Late summer is the dangerous window

Colonies peak in August and September, and by then the workers are foraging aggressively for sugar. That is when they show up at barbecues, garbage cans and pool areas, and when accidental encounters spike.

What we do on a stinging insect call

We remove the nest from accessible exterior surfaces

Not just a spray-and-leave. Nest and web removal from accessible exterior surfaces is included at every visit under a recurring plan, and handled directly on a one-time call.

We treat the surfaces they rebuild on

Eaves, soffits and overhangs get preventative treatment, because paper wasps and bald-faced hornets return to the same protected spots year after year.

We identify what you actually have

Yellow jackets, paper wasps, bald-faced hornets, European hornets and carpenter bees all nest differently and need different handling. A ground nest, an aerial paper nest and a wall void colony are three different jobs.

What Long Island customers actually say.

★★★★★

“Yellow jacket nest right next to our pool. My wife is allergic so this was a big deal for us. Paul came out same day on a Saturday and handled it. Very calm, very professional. Followed up a couple days later to make sure they were gone.”

Robert K.Massapequa, NY
★★★★★

“Really took his time explaining everything and did not try to sell us anything we did not need. Been coming back regularly.”

Questions we get before people book.

Can you come today?
Often yes. Stinging insect calls get same-day and next-day priority. Call (844) We-Prowl and we will tell you honestly what we can do and when.
What if someone in the house is allergic?
Tell us on the call and we will treat it as a priority. Keep everyone away from the area until we arrive, and do not attempt to remove or spray it yourself.
Will they come back?
We remove the nest rather than just knocking down the workers, and we treat the surfaces they favor. Under a recurring plan, nest removal from accessible exterior surfaces is included at every visit.
Is the hovering bee at my deck dangerous?
If it is a large bee hovering and flying at you, that is almost certainly a male carpenter bee. Males are territorial and confrontational and physically cannot sting. They have no stinger.
How much does it cost?
We quote on the phone. A single accessible nest is straightforward; a wall void colony takes more. Your first treatment is 50% off right now.
